This beautiful city has so much to offer that it is difficult to make a choice. We have chosen to give an initial overview and then to visit some of the unique sites of this ancient city. Each day allows some time on your own to wander, sketch or photograph. The hotel chosen is Hotel Mozart, set in the picturesque area close to Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps. The hotel has a roof garden which provides lovely views over the roofs of Rome.
Florence is the seat of Renaissance Art and this tour will provide a first class perspective of this uniquely creative period. We will stay in a delightful hotel Pensione Bencista, with its origins in the 14C, it is full of character and set in picturesque gardens on a hill above Florence and below Fiesole, it has sweeping views of the city. Each day of the tour is arranged to allow time on your own to explore, sketch or visit some of the sites not included on the tour. The arrangement with the hotel is on a half board basis so dinner in the hotel is included in the price.
This tour focuses on two areas: Urbino and the Montefeltro country to the north and Ascoli Piceno to the south. In the north we will visit Urbino, Urbania, Fossombrone and the dramatic fortress of S. Leo. This was the area of the Montefeltro Family who were able to give their citizens peace and culture for half a century. To the south, down the coast, Ascoli Piceno, a beautiful medieval town, is surrounded by abbeys and monastic buildings set in mystical natural paths. A full day will be spent immersed in the enchanting nature and centres of the Sibillini Mountains.
The tour has to be extended to five nights due to the flight times which do not allow for an evening return.
